Dare to Dream invites you to a free, drop-in Sewing Bee at Ashbourne Street Festival, exploring creativity, textiles and shared futures.

Join us for the Dare to Dream Sewing Bee at Ashbourne Summer Festival – a welcoming, hands-on creative session where imagination, making and conversation come together.

Open to all ages and experience levels, the Sewing Bee invites you to explore ideas about the future through the act of making. Led by Dare to Dream Artist Sue Reddish, guest artist Laura Burill, alongside Dare to Dream Ambassador Alex Murphy, the session offers gentle guidance, creative prompts and space to take part in your own way.

Using reclaimed fabrics and materials, you can create flags, banners and small artworks that reflect your hopes, ideas and aspirations. Each piece contributes to a growing collective artwork – shared online and brought together in a celebratory finale in 2027.

Drop in, stay for as long as you like, and take part at your own pace.

No experience needed. Materials provided.

Alongside the Sewing Bee, Ashbourne Town Centre will transform into Ashbourne-by-the-Sea for a FREE weekend of seaside-inspired street theatre, giant props, beach huts, peep boards, sandcastles and playful outdoor performances.

The Makory will also be joining the celebrations on the Sunday with Derby Museums – where art meets science. Hop onboard to make and decorate your own hand-held windmill inspired by movement, invention and the seaside.
