What happens in the spaces between cultures, histories, identities and different versions of ourselves?
Join artists Anisha Parmar, Khadijah Carberry and Sophie Gresswell for a conversation exploring objects, diaspora, migration, materials, storytelling and the ways we move through different worlds.
The conversation continues ideas first explored when the three women came together for our Women Who Make: Making as Soft Power webinar in April.
Since then, Anisha, Khadijah and Sophie have taken part in an Out of Practice residency together in Nottingham, where new threads began to weave between their practices – exploring objects and the stories they hold, diaspora and migration, and movement through time.
Now, against the extraordinary backdrop of Masson Mills, they come together again to share where those conversations have taken them and explore the ways we move between different worlds.
Expect an exploratory conversation about belonging, connection, identity and the worlds we carry with us – past, present and imagined.
Meet the artists
Anisha Parmar is an artist, jewellery designer and cultural practitioner working at the intersection of adornment, identity and the divine feminine. Rooted in her diaspora experience and South Asian heritage, her practice explores resistance, belonging and the stories we carry in our bodies.
Khadijah Carberry is a creative practitioner and founder of Generous Waste. Her work explores relationality and connection through materials, storytelling and collective making, using making and mapping to trace material journeys and reveal global entanglements.
Sophie Gresswell is an artist, poet and facilitator exploring living heritage and storytelling. Through questions, metaphor and play, her work considers how our lives intersect across generations, cultures and histories.
