Step inside the textile story of Masson Mills.

For the Women Who Make Festival, The Weaving Shed – part of Masson Mills' historic textile museum – will be open free to festival visitors throughout the day.

Explore historic machinery, discover textile stories and get closer to the generations of making, innovation and labour that have shaped this remarkable mill.

Built in 1783 by Richard Arkwright, Masson Mills was one of the world's first water-powered cotton spinning mills. Today, its historic setting offers a fascinating place to think about how textiles have been made in the past – and how our relationship with making, materials and what we consume continues to change.

During your visit, look out for Weaving in Action with Amanda Nichol and Follow the Thread with Ruth Faris and Bea Uprichard of Fishbone & Sycamore, bringing textile skills and processes to life throughout the day.

Entry to The Weaving Shed is free for Women Who Make Festival visitors throughout the day. No separate booking is required.
