Fantasy Dragonflies: Making Magic from Textile Scraps

Turn scraps of fabric into something magical.

Join artist and maker Tania Holmes and discover how tiny textile scraps, threads and offcuts can be transformed into colourful fantasy dragonflies.

Start by learning a simple technique for turning textile scraps into beads. Then choose your colours, textures and patterns, add wings, eyes and decorative details and watch your own fantastical creature come to life.

Bright, bold, delicate or wonderfully unusual – every dragonfly will be different.

You are also very welcome to bring along your own small fabric scraps to incorporate into your creation, giving something personal another chance to be enjoyed.

A playful celebration of imagination, reuse and the possibilities hidden in the materials we might otherwise throw away.

Who is it for?

Suitable for adults and children aged 7+.

All children must be accompanied and supported by an adult.

No previous making experience is needed and materials are provided.

Festival entry is free

Fantasy Dragonflies is free and drop-in during the advertised workshop times. No separate booking is required.

If the activity is busy when you arrive, you may be asked to come back a little later.
