The Paramount Car
The Car
This car is a bit of a local celebrity, believed to be the only surviving Derbyshire Paramount. Created for the American luxury car market in the 1950s, it was originally built in premises on Swadlincote High Street. It has a 1500cc Triumph engine and is a testimony to the vision of two men (Sam Underwood and Bill Hudson), and the skills of a small workforce, who hand-made the chassis, the wooden frame and rather striking aluminium body.
Kindly on show thanks to The Great British Car Journey Museum in Belper.
