Explore stringmaking, crochet, weaving, and spinning with various artists.

Katherine Parrish will be sharing string making skills using natural fibres. Come and chat about plant fibres and textiles and find out about the process of turning Flax to Linen with links to South Derbyshire.

Watch the magic of weaving come to life with Jo Stevens (aka Elements by Jo) as she works on her beautiful Ashford loom. Inspired by polaroid snaps she takes herself, Jo creates cosy ‘hugs in a rug’ mini shawls filled with texture and story. Swing by and see the process in action or have a go.

Derbyshire Guild Weavers, Spinners & Dyers are a lively group with a diverse membership, and at a local level, they not only work to learn, apply, and maintain skills, but also promote a more sustainable alternative. The Guild offer demonstrations to provide access to resources and offer support and encouragement and not as ‘the guardians of a bygone era.’

Try your hand at crochet with Carly Beavis, no experience is necesssary and all materials are provided for 2 people at a time to get started. Carly began crocheting in early 2020 as a creative outlet that helped with her mental health and ADHD. She now loves selling her creationsand seeing the reactions when people come and take a closer look.
