Much of South Derbyshire’s history lies beneath your feet - step back in time with LAMPLIGHT and meet John who shares the story of his local mining community. 

Then grab a Map (or download one), and head out into Swadlincote to explore the LAMPLIGHT Heritage Trail.

Stop off at the key sites, starting along the High Street, use your phone, hold your camera on the QR code, and you can listen to a new set of oral histories recently recorded by South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group.

The Trail will take you to former Colliery sites, the mining memorials and the much-loved Miner’s Welfare.

The Trail tarts at Sharpe's Museum, then onto High Street and beyond, Swadlincote.
