Add a leaf and help to grow a poem.

Attie Lime writes poetry for children. She has been a Primary School teacher and a Pre-School teacher, among other things. She is a mum of three, a keen tea drinker, and can often be found running away from her own cat (he bites!)

For the festival Attie will create a free-standing ‘Community Poet-Tree', made from 'junk' and recycling etc . There will also be prompts and simple poetry activities available to inspire you to write a short poem for the Poet-Tree, about the festival. By adding a leaf you will be helping to grow a poem.

After the festival, Attie will collate the words and lines on the tree into a community poem celebrating Swadlincote's part in The Derbyshire Makes Festival 2026 – a poem created by the visitors and supporters of the festival, themselves.
