Derbyshire Makes Recommends
Origami Cranes Making Workshop
Come and make some origami paper birds to add to the 1000 cranes sculpture, which will be showcased at Melbourne Arts Festival in September.
You can make one to take home or many to add to the sculpture! Full instructions will be given on the day and help will be on hand to assist with the making process.
The "1000 Cranes Project," or senbazuru, is a Japanese tradition where folding one thousand origami cranes is said to grant a wish. This practice is deeply rooted in Japanese culture, where cranes are seen as symbols of longevity and good fortune.
Derbyshire has been twinned with Toyota City in Japan since 1998.
This workshop is created by Fleet Arts Co-create space with support from Derbyshire County Council.
Free, drop-in, no advance booking required.
