A vibrant celebration of making, local talent and creativity in Chesterfield.
Derbyshire Makes Chesterfield is a vibrant celebration of creativity, showcasing the town’s rich artistic talent and heritage by transforming locations across Chesterfield into an immersive festival of making. Headlining is the Great Chesterfield Make Off, where 40 local artists create brand-new work live in Chesterfield Market, turning the space into a buzzing hub of creativity. Experience the energy of artists at work, discover new creative talent, and witness the skills and imagination that make the local arts scene so special.
Get stuck into a hands-on workshop where you can create your own mini masterpiece, watch live street performances from the internationally-renowned artist Matt Pang, and discover more opportunities to support Chesterfield’s makers. Extending into the library and town centre exhibition spaces, the festival also explores the endangered local heritage craft of lace making, highlighting the people currently working to preserve it and celebrating today’s cultural leaders through an exhibition of photographs.
Don’t miss this free programme of activities, which invites everyone to take part and be inspired.
Programmed by Junction Arts.
