Be part of a monumental artwork celebrating Derbyshire's textiles heritage

Inspired by Derbyshire’s history of innovation, Dare to Dream invites everyone from across the county (and beyond) to create new flags embodying hope, aspiration and radical thinking.

This is your chance to discover Derbyshire’s textiles heritage, create a monumental artwork together, and dream of a better future through making.

Join artist Christine Thomas for a fun and creative drop-in textiles workshop where you and your family can design and create your very own family flag! Showcase your family’s unique identity and celebrate a shared interest in this hands-on workshop.

Using fabric, threads, and other textile materials, you’ll have the opportunity to design a flag that represents your family’s spirit, values, or personality. All ages are welcome, and materials will be provided. Drop in anytime during the workshop hours and stay as long as you like to complete your flag.

Christine is an artist, researcher and educator based in Belper. She works with textiles - hand and machine embroidery, using stitch for mark making, and 3D textiles. She also works with mixed media collage, printing and photography.

FREE. Drop-in, no booking required. All materials provided, but if you have any unwanted fabrics, then please bring them along.
