The mobile activity space from Derby Museums

The Makory will show carefully selected exhibits relevant to Chesterfield with never-before-seen items from Derby Museums and the Derbyshire Record Office.

Join artist Verity Foster for free drop-in-making workshops inspired by the exhibits. Verity is a Potter and Therapeutic Practitioner and is based in the Peak District. She enjoys the freedom of hand building; making functional and sculptural forms inspired by the every day, nature, our local heritage and stories from the past.

You will make small tiles, using a clay technique called sgraffito to etch designs onto rolled out air dry clay. You will shape and sculpt wheels, smokestacks, and other key features of locomotives, railways and the industry that connects Derbyshire.

FREE. Drop-in, no advance booking required.
