Be a part of a monumental artwork celebrating Derbyshire’s textiles heritage
Inspired by Derbyshire’s history of innovation, Dare to Dream invites everyone from across the county (and beyond!) to create new flags embodying hope, aspiration and radical thinking.
This is your chance to discover Derbyshire’s textiles heritage, create a monumental artwork together, and dream of a better future through making.
Using old, unwanted fabrics and found materials, we invite you to make powerful statements of possibility using flags, garments or banners.
Working with artist Bernie Rutter, dive into the world of printmaking, stamp making and creating designs on to fabric. Come along and experiment with colour, shape and pattern! Make you own startling part of the Derbyshire Makes Banner.
Bernie is a visual artist, working with photography, printmaking and is based in Wirksworth. She is fascinated by the layers of both geology, history and industry that leaves its trace in the landscape across Derbyshire, the impact of sedimentary processes and the later human intervention and invention.
FREE. Drop-in, no booking required. All materials provided, but if you have any unwanted fabrics, then please bring them along.
